Just Another Day in Corinth: ‘Pastor’ David Devereaux Preaching on Homosexuals in Church and Clergy…False Teaching in the Church

Desert Spring United Methodist Church – Summerlin is not teaching according to sound doctrine, so please be careful.  I say this with love and sadness.  This is the same thing that happened at Corinth.  Remember, the Bible warns us: “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but… Read More

NEW: A new booklet by Bill Randles called ‘Beware of Bethel’ examines some of Bill Johnson’s unbiblical teachings

Hi there, friends!  Just wanted to let you all know there is a new booklet out by author and pastor Bill Randles.  I hope that this blesses you and may all who you share it with have a changed heart and changed mind, in Jesus’s name.  Have a great week!  Beware of Bethel: A Brief Summary of Bill Johnson’s Unbiblical Teachings by Bill Randles “And many shall follow their shameful ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” 2 Peter 2:2

How important is ‘doctrine’?

How important is doctrine to Jesus? Very! So important is right teaching to Jesus that He says anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in it does not have God. “Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work” (2 John 1:9-11).

Are you a ‘vessel of honor’? Cleanse yourself from the false teachers and become one!

Been looking at a few verses in the Bible.  2 Timothy 2:21 speaks of “vessels of honor”.  Here is what it says…  “Ifa man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and fit for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work” (emphasis mine). If we as Christians want to be used by God, we must purge, or cleanse, ourselves from “these”.  If we don’t, we will be a “vessel for dishonor”.  What is “these” referring to?Many people want to be used by God, set… Read More

Good division or evil division? Division in the church….what did Paul teach? Bethel Church and Christianity and 1 Corinthians 1:12

For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. (1 Corinthians 11:19)This scripture really stuck out today. This comes right after verse 18 in 1 Cor. 11 which speaks of divisions in the church. Paul was telling the Corinthians that when they come together, there are divisions. I checked the cross references for this, and the divisions Paul is speaking of is that in Corinth, some Christians were saying they followed Paul, others Cephas while others were saying they followed Apollos and… Read More

Are you tossed? Mature Christians and immature Christians: Following false prophets and their various ‘winds of doctrine’ is like being tossed by a storm

These days, we must be extra discerning who we are “following”.  Who are you learning from? “That we from now on be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive…” Ephesians 4:14 Are you a wise or foolish virgin (Matthew 25)?  The mark of a mature Christian is to not be tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, to not be deceived by the sleight of… Read More

Is it really the Holy Spirit? Bethel Church and Christianity…

Was reading in the Word this morning, and a question came up in my mind.  I posted this question on the Bethel Church and Christianity Forum today: “Acts 5:32 — “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” I read this today and was wondering if these people are really teaching by the Holy Spirit, why is it that they are not departing/separating themselves from the false teachings/teachers? That would be obedience to God (Romans 16:17), and… Read More

Is leaving church (when there is false teaching) a sin or a command? Is it wrong to leave church? No!

http://www.lawsonchristopher.org/f/CL_WEB_2013_03_2.4MB.pdf The above is a helpful news article for those of you considering leaving your church due to error and apostasy.  We must remember that it is okay to leave a church for the right reasons.  Many may judge people who leave church and condemn them, but if there is doctrinal error or false teaching entering the church, the Bible commands us to “mark and avoid” (see Romans 16:17). Bethel Church is the same church that teaches (via senior pastor Bill Johnson) that Jesus was non-divine (before age thirty water baptism).  This… Read More

Assemblies of God Encourages Christians to Contact Local District Offices for False Teaching Concerns

If you attend an Assemblies of God Church, and have a concern about a false teaching or practice, please go ahead and email the district office in the state where the church of concern is located.  Certified letters may be more efficient. Here is a recent post on this topic: http://bethelsozo.blogspot.com/2013/02/jesus-culture-teachings-repudiated.html To clear up any doubt, and due to the fact that there was recently some doubt/questioning on the above post by a reader, we have helpfully provided a direct quote we received from the General Council of the Assemblies of God:… Read More
